Heyburn State Park
Subnational Park · Plummer, Idaho
Founded in 1908 and the oldest state or provincial park in the Pacific Northwest - 8,076 acres at the southern end of Lake Coeur d'Alene, of which about 2,332 are water. It holds three lakes, Chatcolet, Benewah and Hidden, which are not really separate lakes at all: a dam built on the Spokane River in 1906 raised Coeur d'Alene and drowned the meadows between them, so the park's water is the flooded bottom of the St. Joe River valley. The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes crosses the water here on the Chatcolet Bridge.
57 Chatcolet Road, Plummer, Idaho, 83851, United States
