Highlands Hammock State Park

Florida State Park · Sebring, Florida

One of the four original Florida state parks, opened in 1931 and developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, protecting a stand of virgin hardwood hammock with oaks over a thousand years old. A catwalk runs out over a cypress swamp full of alligators, and the park keeps the only CCC museum in the state, in the buildings the Corps put up themselves.

5931 Hammock Road, Sebring, Florida, 33872, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. The CCC Museum and the ranger-led tram tour keep their own limited hours.
