Hinkle Fieldhouse
Arena · Indianapolis, Indiana
A 1928 brick and steel basketball arena on the Butler University campus in Indianapolis, the largest in the United States for two decades after it opened and now a National Historic Landmark. It hosted the Indiana high school state finals for decades, including the 1954 Milan game that became the basis of the film Hoosiers, and the closing scenes of that film were shot in this building. It is still Butler's home court and still in daily use, which is the point of it.
510 West 49th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46208, United States
A working university building. Generally open to walk into during ordinary university hours, subject to practices and events, at no charge. Butler basketball runs November to March. No formal public tour programme.
