Historic Jamestowne
Historic Site · Jamestown, Virginia
The actual site of the 1607 James Fort, the first permanent English settlement in North America, on a low island in the James River. The fort was believed lost to the river for three centuries until archaeologists found its footprint in 1994; the dig has since produced millions of artefacts and it is still running, in the open, where visitors can watch and ask questions. It is jointly run by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.
1368 Colonial Parkway, Jamestown, Virginia, 23081, United States
Open daily 9 AM - 5 PM, closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Admission ticket valid seven consecutive days. The Glasshouse is free and outside the fee area.
