Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park

Industrial Heritage · Mackinaw City, Michigan

The site of the water-powered sawmill that cut the timber for Mackinac Island in the 1780s, rediscovered by an amateur historian in 1972 after two centuries lost in the woods. A working reconstruction now saws on the original race, and the surrounding 625 acres carry trails, a canopy bridge and a zip line over the creek.
