Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat
Mosque · Bagerhat, Khulna
The remains of Khalifatabad, a fifteenth-century Bengal Sultanate city founded on the Sundarbans fringe by the saint-general Khan Jahan Ali, inscribed by UNESCO in 1985 as the Historic Mosque City of Bagerhat. Its centrepiece is the Sixty Dome Mosque (Shat Gombuj Masjid) — sixty stone pillars carrying seventy-seven low brick domes plus four corner ones, the largest and finest Sultanate mosque in Bangladesh and still an active place of worship — surrounded by a scatter of smaller mosques, Khan Jahan Ali's domed mausoleum and the great water tanks he dug across the plain.

Grounds generally open daylight hours, roughly 9 AM to 5-6 PM with seasonal shift; the site museum keeps a Department of Archaeology schedule with a weekly closed day (commonly Sunday plus a half-day) and a Friday midday break for Jumu'ah — UNVERIFIED, check locally. The mosque itself closes to sightseeing during the five daily prayers and Friday congregation. Hours change during Ramadan.
