Historic Third Ward

Nightlife District · Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee's warehouse district, rebuilt in brick and cream city stone after a fire destroyed the neighbourhood in 1892 and left largely intact when the wholesale trade moved out. It was an Italian immigrant quarter for most of the twentieth century, emptied, and was converted from the 1990s into the city's densest concentration of restaurants, galleries, theatres and independent shops. The Milwaukee Public Market anchors the north end, the RiverWalk runs along its western edge, and the whole district is about six walkable blocks.

219 North Milwaukee Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53202, United States

The district is open at all hours. The Milwaukee Public Market and the galleries keep daytime hours and close by early evening; restaurants and bars run late. Several galleries close on Sundays and Mondays. Theatre performances follow their own season.
