Homolovi State Park
Arizona State Park Managed With Hopi Cultural Protocols · Winslow, Arizona
A state park just north-east of Winslow that protects the ruins of ancestral Hopi villages occupied between about 1260 and 1400 CE along the Little Colorado River. The name comes from the Hopi for 'place of the little hills'. Hopi people still regard these sites as part of their migration history, and the park is managed with Hopi input, so visitors are asked to leave every pottery sherd and stone where it lies. Short trails lead to the partly excavated Homolovi II pueblo and to petroglyphs on the Tsu'vö Trail, and the grassland is quiet and very dark at night. There is also a Mormon pioneer cemetery from the 1870s settlement of Sunset. In 2026 entry was $5 for up to four adults, and campsites cost $19 with electricity or $12 without.
