Horseshoe Bend
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area; Car Park Run By The City Of Page · Page, Arizona
A horseshoe-shaped meander where the Colorado River curls around a sandstone promontory about a thousand feet below the rim, five miles downstream of Glen Canyon Dam near Page — one of the most photographed viewpoints in the United States. A wide, graded trail of about three-quarters of a mile leads from the car park to the overlook, part of which has a safety railing. It sits within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, but the car park is run by the City of Page, which charges its own fee. Most of the rim is an unfenced sheer drop. Sunrise is quiet; sunset brings the largest crowds of the day to the rim.
