Ibiza

UNESCO World Heritage Site (Ibiza, Biodiversity And Culture, Inscribed 1999), Covering Dalt Vila And Its Renaissance Fortifications, The Puig Des Molins Necropolis, The Sa Caleta Phoenician Settlement And The Posidonia Seagrass Meadows · Ibiza Town, Balearic Islands

Two islands sharing one name, and which one you get depends entirely on where you sleep. The famous one is the summer club island, an industry running from roughly May to October in a few square kilometres around Sant Antoni and Playa d'en Bossa, with international headline residencies and prices to match. The other Ibiza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the listing has nothing to do with music: it covers Dalt Vila, the walled upper town above the harbour with Renaissance bastions built against Ottoman raids, a Phoenician necropolis, the Phoenician settlement at Sa Caleta, and the seagrass meadows in the channel to Formentera, which are among the oldest living organisms on earth. Outside the club strip the north of the island is quiet pine, red earth and small coves reached down dirt tracks. Both versions are real. Decide which one you booked, because the island will not sort it out for you.

Dalt Vila, Ibiza Town, Balearic Islands, 07800, Spain

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED, and the island has none: Dalt Vila, the bastions and the beaches are public and always open. What has a schedule is the SEASON, which governs everything here. The club season runs roughly May to October and much of the southern tourist infrastructure CLOSES from November to April. Ferries to Formentera are frequent in season and sparse out of it. The museums keep their own shorter hours with a midday break. Confirm what is open before travelling out of season.
