Idlewild and SoakZone
Amusement Park · Ligonier, Pennsylvania
An amusement park in the Laurel Highlands that opened in 1878 as a picnic ground on the Ligonier Valley Rail Road, which makes it one of the three oldest operating amusement parks in the United States. It has stayed deliberately small and wooded and aimed at families with young children, and enthusiast polls have repeatedly named it the best children's park in the world. Its most distinctive attraction is a trolley ride through the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, built with Fred Rogers — who was from Latrobe, ten minutes away — and using his own characters.
2574 Route 30, Ligonier, Pennsylvania, 15658, United States
Seasonal — generally late May to early September, with weekend operation either side, and closed for the winter. It does not open every day within its season; check the operating calendar. SoakZone is included with admission. Parking is charged separately.
