Indiana Uplands Wine Region
Wine Region · Bloomington, Indiana
A federally recognised American Viticultural Area covering the hill country of south-central Indiana around Bloomington, Nashville and Bedford, on the unglaciated limestone terrain that gives it drainage and slope the rest of the state lacks. It holds a cluster of wineries linked by a signed trail, of which Oliver Winery north of Bloomington is much the largest and among the biggest wineries in the Midwest. Traminette is the state grape of Indiana and the variety the region is building a reputation on, alongside Chambourcin and Cabernet Franc.

Individual wineries keep their own hours. The larger producers open daily year-round; several smaller ones are weekends-only and some close for parts of the winter. Ring ahead for anything other than the largest.
