Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Racing Circuit · Indianapolis, Indiana

A two-and-a-half-mile rectangular oval opened in 1909 and paved with 3.2 million bricks, of which a three-foot strip survives at the start-finish line. It holds more spectators than any sporting venue on earth and stages the Indianapolis 500 each Memorial Day weekend, one of the three races that make up motorsport's Triple Crown alongside the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The museum in the infield and the bus tour of the track run almost every day of the year, so the site is a destination well outside race weekends.

4790 West 16th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46222, United States

Museum and grounds open most days year-round, generally 10:00 to 16:00 with longer hours in May. The track tour runs on non-event days only and is cancelled without notice when the surface is in use. Race weekends operate on entirely separate schedules.
