iO Theater

Comedy Club · Chicago, Illinois

The improv theatre Del Close and Charna Halpern founded in 1981, where the long-form improvised structure called the Harold was developed and where a remarkable share of American comedy learned to work — Colbert, Fey, Carell, Poehler, Farley and Dratch all came through it. It closed in 2020 and reopened in 2021 under new ownership, which is the current chapter rather than the end of one.

1501 North Kingsbury Street, Chicago, Illinois, 60642, United States

Show nights, most evenings, across several stages. Ticketed per show. Reopened 2021 under new ownership — check the current calendar.
