Jackson
Town — Gateway To Grand Teton And Yellowstone National Parks · Jackson, Wyoming
The town at the southern end of the Jackson Hole valley, a few miles from Grand Teton National Park and the gateway to Yellowstone, which grew from a cattle-ranching settlement into one of the best-known resort towns in the American West. Its Town Square is framed by four arches made of elk antlers shed on the National Elk Refuge next door, and around it are wooden boardwalks, galleries, western-wear shops, the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and a free summer shootout re-enactment. Snow King Mountain rises straight from the edge of town. It is lively, expensive and busy in summer, and in winter it is a ski town.
