John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge
Historic Bridge · Cincinnati, Ohio
The blue suspension bridge over the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington, opened in 1866 with the longest main span in the world at the time. Its engineer went on to design the Brooklyn Bridge, and this is the working prototype for it — the same man, the same principles, seventeen years earlier and still carrying traffic.
