Jones Gap State Park

State Park · Marietta, South Carolina

The other half of the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, opened in January 1989 along the Middle Saluda, which was the first river South Carolina designated as scenic. It is a walking park rather than a viewing one, with no road-accessible overlook at all, just a river, a gorge and trails that climb hard out of it. On the site stand the partially restored remains of the Cleveland Fish Hatchery, the state first, which operated here from 1931 to 1962.
