June Lake Loop
Ring Road · June Lake, California
A sixteen-mile horseshoe off Highway 395 that drops into a glacial canyon holding four lakes in a row, with the Sierra crest closing the end of it. In the first half of October the aspens along it turn a gold that draws photographers from across the country, and it is one of the shortest scenic drives in California with that kind of payoff.
Highway 158, off US 395, June Lake, California, 93529, United States
Open year-round; the northern loop section closes in winter, typically November-April.
