Kāʻanapali

Beach Town · Kaanapali, Hawaii

A planned resort community on the west coast of Maui, in the old Hawaiian ahupuaʻa of Hanakaʻōʻō, with a population of about eleven hundred and a great many more visitors. Three miles of beach run below a line of hotels and a boardwalk, with Puʻu Kekaʻa - Black Rock - at the northern end. It is Maui's original resort development and remains the island's main visitor base, which makes it a trip anchor rather than a stop within one.

Kaka Alaneo Way, Kaanapali, Hawaii, 96761, United States

The beach is open at all times and is FREE, and every beach in Hawaii is public to the high-water line whichever resort stands behind it. ⚠ THE PARKING IS THE PRACTICAL CONSTRAINT: the resorts control most of it and charge for it, but PUBLIC BEACH ACCESS PARKING IS REQUIRED BY LAW and is signed, small and full by mid-morning. Shops and restaurants along the boardwalk keep their own late hours.
