Katy Trail State Park
Subnational Park · Rocheport, Missouri
The longest continuous recreational rail trail in the United States - 240 miles across Missouri on the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad right-of-way, running largely along the north bank of the Missouri River between Machens and Clinton. It is crushed limestone, almost entirely flat, and it passes through river bluffs, farmland, wine country and a string of small towns that have rebuilt their economies around it. The first segment opened at Rocheport in 1990.
Rocheport Trailhead, First Street, Rocheport, Missouri, 65279, United States
FREE and open daily from sunrise to sunset, year round, along its whole length. THERE IS NO SINGLE ENTRANCE - the trail runs 240 miles with dozens of trailheads, and this row is pinned at Rocheport, where the first segment opened in 1990 and which is the most-used access point. Individual trailheads have their own parking and facilities, and some have none. Sections close after flooding on the Missouri River.
