Kentuck Knob
Historic House · Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania
A Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian house built between 1953 and 1956 for the Hagan family, who made ice cream in Uniontown, on a hillside seven miles from Fallingwater. Wright was eighty-six and never visited the site; the plan is built on a hexagonal module with no right angles anywhere in it, in cypress and native fieldstone, and it is deliberately modest where Fallingwater is theatrical. Lord Peter Palumbo bought it in 1986 and filled the meadow below with sculpture, including a section of the Berlin Wall.
