Keyhole State Park
State Park · Moorcroft, Wyoming
A reservoir on the Belle Fourche River at the western edge of the Black Hills, with campgrounds, a marina and good walleye and pike fishing, about half an hour from Devils Tower. It is a quiet base for Devils Tower and the Wyoming side of the Black Hills — except during the Sturgis motorcycle rally in early August, when its campsites fill. The reservoir was formed by Keyhole Dam, finished by the Bureau of Reclamation in the early 1950s, and takes its name from the old Keyhole Ranch brand. The small town of Pine Haven sits on its shore, and the park has several campgrounds, a marina and a long shoreline for fishing. Pine forest from the Black Hills meets open grassland here, bringing a wide range of birds. During the Sturgis motorcycle rally in early August the campgrounds fill with riders.
