Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge
National Wildlife Refuge · Kilauea, Hawaii
A National Wildlife Refuge on the northwest coast of Kauaʻi, occupying a headland above the sea with the Daniel K. Inouye Kīlauea Point Lighthouse on its point. It protects one of the most important seabird nesting areas in the main Hawaiian islands - red-footed boobies, Laysan albatross, tropicbirds and shearwaters nest on the cliffs and slopes - and the whole visit is a short walk on a paved path with the birds directly overhead.
Kilauea Road, Kilauea, Hawaii, 96754, United States
⚠ OPEN LIMITED DAYS AND HOURS AND IT IS NOT OPEN EVERY DAY - this is a wildlife refuge run to the birds' schedule rather than a park, and it closes on some weekdays and on federal holidays. ⚠ ENTRY RESERVATIONS HAVE BEEN REQUIRED AT TIMES and the arrangement has changed; check the refuge page before driving out.
