Kimbell Art Museum
Art Museum · Fort Worth, Texas
A small, ruthlessly edited collection of about 350 works housed in what is widely regarded as one of the outstanding architectural achievements of the modern era — Louis Kahn's 1972 building of vaulted concrete cycloids that pull daylight down onto the art through slotted skylights. The collection runs from antiquity to the twentieth century and includes Michelangelo's first painting, the only Michelangelo painting in the Americas. The permanent collection is free, always.
