Kirtland Temple

Temple · Kirtland, Ohio

The first temple built by the Latter Day Saint movement, raised by an impoverished congregation between 1833 and 1836 in a village east of Cleveland and dedicated before most of them left Ohio for Missouri. It is a National Historic Landmark, it is the only surviving building of its kind from the movement's first decade, and it changed ownership in 2024 after nearly a century and a half.
