Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park

Florida State Park · Okeechobee, Florida

The darkest sky in Florida and the state's only International Dark Sky Park, sitting in 54,000 acres of dry prairie with no town close enough to throw light on the horizon. It also protects the largest remaining stretch of that prairie anywhere, and the last Florida grasshopper sparrows — one of the most endangered birds in North America — live here and almost nowhere else.

33104 Northwest 192nd Avenue, Okeechobee, Florida, 34972, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown for day use, 365 days a year. Overnight sky viewing requires a campsite booking — day visitors must leave at sundown.
