Koprulu Canyon
A 14 Kilometre Gorge On The Kopru River Inside A National Park, With A Roman Bridge Over It And The Ancient City Of Selge Above; The Busiest White Water Rafting River In Turkiye · Manavgat, Antalya
The Kopru river comes down out of the Taurus through fourteen kilometres of gorge, and on a summer day it carries more rafts than any other river in Turkiye - this is where the whole Antalya and Side resort coast comes for its adventure day, and the water is forgiving enough that most of them are first-timers. That volume is worth knowing about before you book. What lifts the place beyond a rafting stop is above the water. A Roman bridge still spans the gorge at a startling height, single-arched and in use; the road climbs past it through a natural stand of Mediterranean cypress to Selge, a Pisidian city at a thousand metres with a theatre cut into the hillside and eroded rock spires standing around it; and the whole thing is inside a national park with walking that almost nobody does. Go early, raft in the morning, then drive up to Selge in the afternoon when the coast is too hot to be on.
