The largest yoga-based retreat centre in North America, in a former Jesuit novitiate on a hillside above the Stockbridge Bowl, immediately next door to Tanglewood. It is a non-profit rather than a resort, and the difference is the point: some rooms have shared bathrooms, breakfast is taken in silence, there is no alcohol and no television, and the programme runs from before dawn. People come for a weekend R and R retreat or a week-long training, and day passes exist for anyone who wants to try it.

Accommodation tiers range from dormitory and shared-bathroom rooms to private en-suite. NO ALCOHOL is served or permitted; breakfast is taken in silence. Not suitable for young children. FREE parking; a car is realistically necessary. Book well ahead in the Tanglewood season.
