A Summer Party Town With Nightlife And A Long Season · Kusadasi, Aydin

Kusadasi is a resort and cruise-ship town on the Aegean coast of Turkiye, about 20 km from the ruins of Ephesus and 95 km south of Izmir, and it serves as the nearest base for the region's greatest ancient sites. A busy harbour fronts a bazaar of leather, jewellery, carpets and souvenirs, a marina holds yachts, and a short causeway leads to Pigeon Island, where a small castle stands on a rock (confirm). Long sand beaches stretch south, with Ladies Beach and Long Beach the best known, and nightlife lines the bar street in summer. On cruise days thousands of visitors arrive early, fill the bazaar and then take coaches to Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary, leaving the town calmer by evening. Beyond the shopping and the party scene, the old quarter of Kaleici has narrow lanes and Ottoman houses worth a short walk. Kusadasi works best as a base for Ephesus, Sirince and the Dilek Peninsula, with a swim and a meal between trips.

The town is open all year, but the busy season runs from about April to October, when the cruise port, beaches, bars and bazaar are at full strength. Shops usually open around 09:00 and stay open until 21:00 or later in summer, and some close on Sundays in winter - confirm. Beach clubs open from about May to October. The bar street is lively after dark in July and August. In winter many restaurants and hotels reduce hours or close, though the town keeps a local life and the bazaar stays partly open.
