La Jolla Cove
Beach · La Jolla, California
A small sandstone cove inside the San Diego-La Jolla Underwater Park, California's first marine protected area, established in 1970. Sea lions and harbour seals haul out on the rocks in numbers, the water is clear enough to snorkel with bright orange garibaldi, and in late summer hundreds of harmless leopard sharks gather in the shallows.
