Lake Kissimmee State Park
Florida State Park · Lake Wales, Florida
Prairie, pine flatwoods and lake shore between three lakes in the middle of the peninsula, best known for an 1876 cow camp where interpreters work as Florida cracker cowmen — herding scrub cattle, cracking whips and refusing, in character, to acknowledge that the twentieth century happened. It is one of the more committed living history programmes in the state.
14248 Camp Mack Road, Lake Wales, Florida, 33898, United States
Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. THE 1876 COW CAMP OPERATES WEEKENDS ONLY and mainly in the cooler months.
