Lake Las Vegas

Private Man Made Lake And Resort Community In Henderson, With A Mediterranean Style Village, Hotels And Golf · Henderson, Nevada

Lake Las Vegas is a private, man-made lake and resort community in Henderson, roughly 17 miles east of the Strip. It was created from the late 1980s and 1990s by damming the Las Vegas Wash, the channel that carries the valley's treated water and runoff towards Lake Mead, with the wash's flow reportedly piped beneath the new lake. Around its shore sit houses, golf courses, resort hotels and MonteLago Village, a Mediterranean-style cluster of cobbled lanes, shops and restaurants built to recall an Italian lake town. The project went through bankruptcies and closures after the 2008 crash, with hotels and a small casino shutting or changing hands, and has since been revived under new owners. Today it is a quiet alternative to the Strip: kayaks, paddleboards and electric boats on calm water, lakeside dining, pool and spa days, golf and weekend events in the village. It is not a gambling destination and it is a 25 to 35 minute drive from the Strip, so it suits people who want Las Vegas weather and access at a much slower pace.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the lake, village lanes and shoreline paths can be walked at any reasonable hour; village restaurants open for lunch and dinner and many close by 9 or 10 pm, earlier on weekdays; shops keep shorter daytime hours and some close on quiet weekdays; the water rental operator works roughly from morning to late afternoon, with shorter days in winter and closures in high wind; golf starts at first light. The traps that ruin a day are arriving on a weekday evening when much of the village is shut, booking rentals for a windy afternoon, expecting a casino, and assuming hotel pools admit day visitors. Confirm current times before relying on them.
