Lalakhal

River · Jaintiapur, Sylhet

A stretch of the Sari river near Jaintiapur that turns an improbable turquoise-green in the dry season, when mineral-carrying water clears and the channel glows against tea gardens and low hills. The standard visit is a country-boat cruise upstream from Sarighat toward the border hills, with the colour deepening as sand and depth shift beneath the hull. In the monsoon the river runs full and brown like every other river in Sylhet - Lalakhal's magic is specifically a November-to-April phenomenon, and it is one of the easiest half-day escapes from Sylhet city.

Sarighat, Sylhet-Tamabil Road, Jaintiapur, Sylhet, Bangladesh

Boats run daylight hours from Sarighat with no formal schedule - hire on arrival. The turquoise colour is a dry-season (November-April), bright-sun phenomenon; monsoon visits find an ordinary full river. Midday to mid-afternoon in winter is the colour window.
