Lambert Castle
National Register Of Historic Places · Paterson, New Jersey
A brownstone and sandstone pile on the side of Garret Mountain overlooking Paterson, built in 1892 by CATHOLINA LAMBERT — an English mill boy from Yorkshire who arrived with nothing, made a fortune in Paterson silk, and put up a house he called Belle Vista and everybody else called a castle. He filled it with a serious art collection and lost most of it when the business failed after the 1913 silk strike. IT IS NOW THE PASSAIC COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S MUSEUM, reopened in 2022 after a long restoration, and the view from the terrace runs to the Manhattan skyline.
3 Valley Road, Paterson, New Jersey, 07503, United States
