Lancaster Central Market

National Historic Landmark · Lancaster, Pennsylvania

The oldest continuously operating farmers market in the United States, trading on the same square since William Penn's son granted the town market rights in 1730, and housed since 1889 in a Romanesque brick hall with twin towers. Around sixty stalls sell produce, meat, cheese and baked goods, a good number of them run by Amish and Mennonite families from the surrounding county, and it operates three mornings a week as a working market rather than a tourist attraction that happens to sell food.

23 North Market Street, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 17603, United States

OPEN THREE MORNINGS A WEEK ONLY — generally Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, from early morning to early afternoon, and closed the rest of the week. Individual stalls close earlier when they sell out. Closed on major holidays.
