Fort Lauderdale's main street, running from the downtown Riverwalk east across the Intracoastal to the beach — a mile and a half of independent boutiques, galleries and restaurants under banyan and royal palm, with the canal-side mansions of the Isles either side of it. It is the closest thing south Florida has to a genuine walkable urban high street rather than a mall or a strip.
