LEGOLAND Billund and LEGO House

The Original LEGOLAND, Opened In 1968 In The Home Town Of LEGO, With LEGO House, The Brand'S Experience Centre, In The Town Centre · Billund, Region of Southern Denmark

Billund is a small town in the flat middle of Jutland that happens to be the home of LEGO, and it has built two very different attractions around the brick. LEGOLAND Billund, opened in 1968 beside the original factory, is the first LEGOLAND anywhere: a theme park of themed zones, family coasters, water rides and Miniland, where towns, harbours and landmarks from Denmark and abroad are rebuilt in millions of bricks at small scale. LEGO House, opened in 2017 in the town centre in a stacked-brick building designed by Bjarke Ingels, is the brand's own experience centre: hands-on play zones, a gallery of fan masterpieces, a history collection and free public rooftops. People come as families, as lifelong LEGO fans and as design pilgrims. The honest caveat: this is aimed squarely at children roughly 3 to 12. The rides are gentle by big-park standards, the park is seasonal and closes for the winter, summer weekends are crowded, and adults without children or a real love of LEGO may find a full day long.
