LeMay - America's Car Museum

Specialty Museum · Tacoma, Washington

One of the largest automobile museums in the United States, opened in 2012 beside the Tacoma Dome in a four-storey building under a curved timber and steel roof meant to suggest a car bonnet. It grew out of the collection of Harold LeMay, a Tacoma refuse contractor who accumulated thousands of vehicles - at one point reckoned the largest private car collection in the world - and whose family gave the core of it to the museum. Around 250 are shown at a time on rotating themed floors.

2702 East D Street, Tacoma, Washington, 98421, United States

Open most days, generally 10 AM to 5 PM, with reduced days in some seasons - it has run closed Tuesdays. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Parking on site. The building is next to the Tacoma Dome, so event days affect traffic and parking in the district.
