Lewis and Clark National Historical Park
Historic Site · Astoria, Oregon
The place the Corps of Discovery spent the winter of 1805-06, at the mouth of the Columbia, having reached the Pacific and found they could not go home until spring. They built Fort Clatsop, named for the people whose land it was, and stayed 106 days in which it rained on all but twelve. The park is a cooperative one - National Park Service land in Oregon and Washington plus state park land in both - and the fort itself is a reconstruction, built to the dimensions Clark drew on the elk-hide cover of his field book.
92343 Fort Clatsop Road, Astoria, Oregon, 97103, United States
