Lewis and Clark State Park
Subnational Park · Epping, North Dakota
Five hundred and twenty-five acres on a bay of Lake Sakakawea eighteen miles east of Williston, where Gamache Creek enters the reservoir, with badlands buttes rising directly behind the shoreline. It is the only state park on the lake where the badlands meet the water, which gives it a landscape none of the others have, and it holds one of the better native prairie remnants in the western part of the state on the slopes above the campground.
4904 119th Road NW, Epping, North Dakota, 58843, United States
Open year round with a per-vehicle North Dakota state park entry fee, though the campground, cabins, swimming beach and boat ramp are seasonal and reservable through the state park system. ⚠ RESERVOIR LEVELS MOVE BETWEEN YEARS and can affect the boat ramp - check before towing. Aquatic nuisance species rules are enforced on every boat entering and leaving Lake Sakakawea. The park is 18 miles east of Williston, which is the nearest full services; approach roads carry heavy oilfield traffic.
