Liberation War Museum
History Museum · Dhaka, Dhaka
The country's dedicated museum of the 1971 Liberation War, founded as a citizens' trust in 1996 and rehoused in 2017 in a purpose-built concrete-and-light building at Agargaon. The galleries run the full arc - colonial Bengal and the Language Movement, the 1970 election and the crackdown of 25 March, the nine months of war, the Bir Shreshtho heroes, and the reckoning with genocide - carried by artefacts, photographs, personal effects and oral testimony collected over decades. It is a harder, more focused visit than the National Museum's Liberation rooms, and the capital's most important modern interior after it.
Civic Centre Plot F11/A-B, Agargaon, Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh
Recalled pattern, UNVERIFIED for 2026: open roughly 10 AM-5/6 PM with the weekly closure on SUNDAY - deliberately verify against the National Museum's different (Thursday) closure before planning a two-museum day. Commemorative programming reshapes 26 March and 16 December. Ramadan hours shift.
