Lincoln Park Zoo

Zoo · Chicago, Illinois

Founded in 1868 with a pair of swans given by New York's Central Park, and now one of the oldest zoos in North America and one of the very last free ones. It sits in the middle of Lincoln Park with no fence you have to pay to pass, holds more than 170 species on thirty-five acres, and is open three hundred and sixty-five days a year — which together make it the most-used cultural institution in Chicago by a distance.

FREE, open 365 days a year. Weekdays roughly 8 AM - 5 PM, weekends and holidays 8 AM - 7 PM, with seasonal variation. No reservation needed.
