Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument
National Monument · Crow Agency, Montana
A deeply solemn 765-acre site in southeastern Montana memorializing one of the most famous battles in American history: the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. Here, thousands of Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho warriors defeated the US 7th Cavalry, including Lt. Col. George A. Custer. The landscape is dotted with white marble markers showing where cavalry fell, and red granite markers showing where Native American warriors fell. It includes the striking Indian Memorial and Custer National Cemetery.
