Little Island

City Park · New York, New York

A 2.4-acre park standing on 132 concrete "tulips" in the Hudson at Pier 55, opened May 2021 — a Heatherwick Studio design funded largely by Barry Diller, which was stopped by litigation twice and revived twice before it was built. The tulips are all different heights, which is why the park has hills, a 687-seat amphitheatre and views back at Manhattan from a position no other park occupies.
