Louisville Zoo

Zoo · Louisville, Kentucky

The state zoo of Kentucky, opened in 1969 on a former farm in the south of Louisville, and the city's main family attraction. It is best known for Glacier Run, a large polar bear and sea lion complex, and for Islands — a rotation exhibit where different species take turns occupying the same set of enclosures on a schedule, which was an unusual idea when it was built and is still uncommon. The Louisville Mega Cavern runs directly underneath it, which almost nobody visiting either realises.
