Luxor Las Vegas
Pyramid Shaped Casino Resort On The Las Vegas Strip; The Luxor Sky Beam Is Often Described As The Strongest Beam Of Light In The World · Las Vegas, Nevada
Luxor Las Vegas is the black glass pyramid at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip, opened in 1993 with a giant Sphinx guarding its entrance and, after dark, a column of white light shooting straight up from its apex that is often described as the strongest beam of light in the world. The pyramid is hollow: hotel rooms line its four sloping walls and look inward over an enormous open atrium, often described as one of the largest in the world, and guests ride to them in inclinator elevators that climb the corners at an angle instead of going straight up. Today Luxor is one of the more affordable big resorts on the Strip, and for a non-guest the reasons to come are the building itself, the view up into the atrium, the Sky Beam and the Sphinx from outside, and a set of long-running exhibitions and shows - Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, BODIES... The Exhibition and Blue Man Group among them; check that each is still running. A free tram and indoor walkways tie Luxor to Mandalay Bay and Excalibur, which makes it an easy base for the quieter south end of the Strip.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the Luxor casino, lobby and atrium are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year; restaurants and the food court keep their own hours, roughly breakfast to late evening, with some counters open late. Titanic and BODIES usually run from mid-morning to late evening with last entry about an hour before closing. Shows run on set nights with dark nights each week. The pool is seasonal, roughly spring to autumn, and for hotel guests. The Sky Beam is lit only after dark. The traps that ruin a day are turning up for a show on a dark night, arriving at an exhibition after last entry, driving in on a Raiders game day, and waiting indoors for a beam you can only see outside. Confirm current times before relying on them.
