Maine Maritime Museum
Specialty Museum · Bath, Maine
The museum of Maine's shipbuilding on the banks of the Kennebec at Bath, on the site of the Percy & Small Shipyard - the only surviving shipyard in America that built large wooden sailing vessels, with five original buildings still standing. Bath Iron Works is still building destroyers for the US Navy half a mile upriver, which makes this the rare maritime museum with the industry it documents visible and working from its own lawn.
243 Washington Street, Bath, Maine, 04530, United States
Generally open daily, roughly 9:30 AM to 5 PM, with reduced winter hours; closed major holidays. Ticketed, and admission is valid for two consecutive days. ⚠ THE BOAT TRIPS AND THE BATH IRON WORKS TOURS ARE SEASONAL, SEPARATELY TICKETED AND THEY SELL OUT - they are also the best thing here, so book before you travel rather than at the desk.
