Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum

Historic House · Hannibal, Missouri

The white clapboard house on Hill Street where Samuel Clemens lived from 1844 to 1853, from the age of eight until he left Hannibal at eighteen, and the buildings around it that the museum has assembled since 1912. The fence outside is the fence from Tom Sawyer. Across the street is the house of the girl who became Becky Thatcher; up the hill is the one that became the Widow Douglas's. One admission covers the lot plus a gallery of Norman Rockwell paintings commissioned to illustrate the books.

120 North Main Street, Hannibal, Missouri, 63401, United States

Generally open daily, roughly 9 AM to 5 PM with shorter winter hours and reduced days in the coldest months. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. ONE TICKET COVERS SEVERAL SEPARATE BUILDINGS along Hill and Main Streets, which is the thing to understand before you arrive - this is a complex, not a house.
