Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park
National Historical Park · Atlanta, Georgia
Two blocks of Auburn Avenue in the Sweet Auburn district of Atlanta, holding the house Martin Luther King Jr. was born in, the church where he and his father and grandfather preached, and the tomb where he and Coretta Scott King are buried beside a reflecting pool and an eternal flame. It is a National Park Service site and it is free. The park interprets the whole arc — the neighbourhood that formed him, the pulpit he spoke from, and the movement that got him killed at thirty-nine.
450 Auburn Avenue Northeast, Atlanta, Georgia, 30312, United States
Park grounds open daily and free. Visitor centre generally 9:00 to 17:00; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Birth home tours are free, ranger-led, strictly limited and issued same-day at the visitor centre on a first-come basis — and the home has closed for extended restoration periods, so verify on nps.gov. The King Center, which holds the tomb, is separately operated and keeps its own hours.
