Maryland Science Center

Science Museum · Baltimore, Maryland

The science museum on the south side of the Inner Harbor, run by an institution that traces itself to the Maryland Academy of Sciences of 1797 and is therefore among the oldest scientific bodies in the United States. The building is from 1976 and does the things a good science centre does — a planetarium, a large-format cinema, a dinosaur hall and three floors of things to push, pull and set off. It is the obvious Baltimore plan with children under twelve and it is directly across the water from the aquarium.

601 Light Street, Baltimore, Maryland, 21230, United States

Generally open daily in the warmer months and with a REDUCED WEEK IN WINTER, roughly 10 AM to 5 PM, closed on some major holidays — verify before travelling. THE ROOFTOP OBSERVATORY OPENS FREE ON SELECTED EVENINGS, weather permitting, without museum admission.
